Jeff VanDerWerff

Jeff VanDerWerff is Dean of the Social Sciences at Northwestern College (Iowa), his alma mater, where he has taught courses in American government and public life for nearly two decades and continues to wrestle with the political theology of engaging democracy as a faithful follower of Jesus.

After briefly working as an administrative director for the non-profit ministry known as Mission Year (formerly Kingdomworks), Jeff received his PhD from the Department of Government at the University of Kansas and his MA in Political Science from the University of Missouri (Kansas City).

A native of the Pacific Northwest, he makes his home in Orange City with Kara, their four kids—Jake, Kate, Ian & Elin—a dog, Harley, as well as a rabbit named Diamond.
